My name is Kay. I have been doing hair since I was 14 years old. My first job was at a Dominican hair salon in the Bronx, NY which contributed to my new path that became more lucrative for me. Though during my adolescent/early 20's I wasn't aware of it yet. With that said, I pursued a career as a "Newborn Care Specialist" while doing hair on the side as more of a hobby. A few years later after working with babies I became a mother myself and weighed my options. At that moment I decided to take the route of solely doing hair which became quite beneficial to me. I managed to build a portfolio of my work as well as build a large clientele with some being celebrities i.e. "Miss Universe", International Track Star "Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce", high-end brands from NYC Fashion Week, ETC. I gained traction as an entrepreneur in my actual business MANEBOB LLC where I sell luxury, wigs and now natural growth hair products. In addition, I became an owner of salon suite locations where I rent to service providers as they elevate their business. Though my story does not stop here, I am more than grateful to enjoy the fruits of labor and looking forward to many more endeavors.

This event is ultimately a hair, makeup and nails show however it is still inclusive for all things beauty and esthetics. The main segment is a showcase for hairstylists, makeup artists and nail techs. During each division, the participants will be showcasing their work while being times and presented with tasks they must execute with the hope of winning prizes. Each year we will try to incorporate different beauty battle categories. Though this is the main part of the day, there will also be beauty vendors that will be selling their products as well as providing demonstrations of application (like a lash vendor showing how to put on lashes). Black In Beauty will be an amazing mixer filled with entrepreneurs and established/celebrity figures that drop some gems on us and give many others in the community the motivation we need. In addition to that it is a moment for all companies and brands to gain the exposure needed to gain success. Its a safe space for all talent and skills to network and put ourselves on the map for our city and our culture.
